A brief introduction
Hi! My name is Zixun, and I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Applied Statistics at the University of Michigan. I have a strong background in mathematics, statistics, probability, and data analysis, and I currently work as a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI), where I help students develop both problem-solving skills and a deeper understanding of course material. My teaching philosophy is centered on building intuition and confidence. Rather than simply showing students how to solve a problem, I focus on helping them understand the underlying concepts so they can tackle similar questions independently in the future. I tailor my explanations to each student's learning style and encourage questions throughout the learning process. I specialize in statistics, probability, calculus, algebra, data analysis, and statistical programming in R and Python. Whether you're preparing for an exam, working through homework assignments, or trying to strengthen your foundational knowledge, I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. As someone who has studied mathematics and statistics extensively and has experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds, I understand that learning can sometimes be challenging. My goal is to make difficult concepts approachable, help students build confidence, and ultimately empower them to become independent learners. I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!
